This last couple of weeks I have been thinking about peace. I consciously turned off the radio, stopped reading the head lines and looked to the reality of my life. Here in the Okanagan we can live in peace. Steven and I have built a home by the lake in a pine forest. I garden most of the year, knit all year, and I bake when the mood arises. One of my favourite cookies to bake are World Peace Cookies. Pierre Hermé & Dorie Greenspan’s World Peace Cookies are simple, delicious and for me a meditation on the art of a good cookie. So the last couple of days I have been baking many batches and as I do I image a world where lives of children are not cut short, where fear is not the only emotion, and families can sit in the afternoon with a great cup of tea and enjoy a chocolate cookie.

Tomorrow night the city of Armstrong celebrates Light, by turning on the Christmas lights. I decided that to celebrate light at this “dark” time of year at The Boutique and The Twisted Purl Yarn Studio we would serve Tea and World Peace Cookies during the Light Up”.

Tomorrow Nov 26, between 5pm and 7pm join us for a cup of tea and a cookie. May you feel peace and joy as the warmth of tea and cookies fill you.

Kathleen
